Copyright and Documentation

Difference Between Work and Phonogram
Work: Lyrics + Melody (composition). Who registers: Composer/Author. Rights: Copyright/Mechanical. Value: Composer royalties. Phonogram: Specific recording (mastering). Who registers: Phonographic Producer. Rights: Performance/Related. Value: Artist/label royalties.
What is ISRC?
International Standard Recording Code. Code that identifies each individual recording (phonogram). Used worldwide as the 'ID' of the recording. Created by the distributor or phonographic producer. Allows exact tracking of which recording generated each play or performance. Necessary for: Publishing tracks on any DSP, receiving streaming royalties, identifying phonograms in public performances, radio, TV, internet and digital platform reports, catalog control and phonographic rights. Structure: US-XYZ-24-00015. Find your ISRC: Panel → Distribution → Track Details.
What is UPC?
Universal Product Code. Code that identifies the complete release (single, EP or album), not each recording. Created by the distributor or label. Necessary to publish and identify the complete release on platforms. Difference UPC vs ISRC: UPC identifies the complete release — like a single, EP or album — functioning as the code of the entire product (like a barcode). ISRC identifies each individual recording, being the exclusive code of each track. That is, a release has a single UPC, but can have multiple ISRCs, one for each song that composes it.
When is There Royalty Blocking?
Your royalties may be withheld (not paid) in cases of: Work Divergences (incorrect metadata, wrong composer name, incorrect splits), Editorial Claims (someone disputes authorship), Copyright Claims (platform detects overlap or third-party claim), Misleading Content (suspicious streaming patterns - artificial streaming), Duplicates (same track distributed by multiple accounts). Resolution: Open a ticket with evidence (contracts, assignments, screenshots).
💰

Payments, Royalties and Reports

How to Read Your Reports
Access: Panel → Finance → Reports (or Royalties → Dashboard). Your report contains: Country (where music was listened to), DSP/Platform (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.), Track (song name), ISRC (identifier code), Streams/Plays (number of plays), Gross Revenue (total before fees), Platform Fee (DSP commission), Net Revenue (value after fees), Your Royalty (your share according to configured split).
How to Configure Royalty Splits
In VibeDistro you can share earnings with producers, composers and collaborators: Panel → Royalties → Beneficiary. Click '+ Add Beneficiary'. Enter data: Name, email, % royalty, banking information. The system distributes automatically each month. Your beneficiary receives email about receipt.
Withdrawals and Transfers
Minimum amount: USD $50. Payment methods: Typal — 3 to 5 days. Frequency: Monthly (after data validation). How to Withdraw: Panel → Finance → Withdrawals/Withdraw. Click 'Request Withdrawal'. Select payment method. Confirm amount. Wait for processing.
⚠️

Takedowns, Claims and Issues

My Music Disappeared — What Happened?
Possible reasons: Copyright claim, unauthorized sample, track duplication, incorrect metadata, misleading content, artificial streaming (bots), DMCA takedown. What to do: Check email — there should be detailed notification. Identify the exact reason. Open ticket with: ISRC, track link, error screenshot. Wait for response (up to 48h for critical issues).
I Received a Copyright Notice — Now What?
If you really used unlicensed sample: Obtain retroactive license and submit proof. If it's a system error: Contest with proof of original authorship (stems, contract). If it's fraud/someone wants your royalties: Dispute immediately with complete documentation. To continue receiving: Submit authorization (sample, work, contract). Correct metadata if necessary. In editorial dispute: royalty is withheld until resolution. Response deadline: up to 30 days.
Content Rejected
Common reasons: Invalid cover (use 3000×3000px, JPG/PNG), Audio error (reconvert to WAV 16-bit/44.1kHz), Incorrect metadata (use only letters, numbers and spaces), Suspicious sample (provide sample license), Artist name conflict (use variation, e.g.: 'Name Official'), Prohibited content (mark as 'Explicit' or change image), Duplicate detected (cancel duplicate before publishing). How to resubmit: Panel → Distribution → Rejected track. Click 'View Details' to see specific error. Fix the problem. Click 'Resubmit'. Wait for new review (24-48h).
Artificial Streaming (Fake Streams)
What is detected: Many streams very quickly, same account playing repeatedly, abnormal consumption pattern. Consequences: Track removed from platforms, royalties refunded, account reputation damaged. How to AVOID: Never buy streams/plays, don't use bots or suspicious services, don't ask friends to loop continuously. Do: Share organically on networks, work with real influencers, create viral content on TikTok/Reels, make authentic partnerships with DJs/producers. If accused: Open ticket 'Artificial Streaming - False Positive'. Explain your promotion strategy with proof. Provide evidence of legitimate marketing. Wait for analysis (7-30 days).
Takedown/DMCA — Content Removal
What is DMCA: Legal notice (USA) to remove content that violates copyright. Anyone can request. Types: Legitimate (you really violated - remove voluntarily, don't contest), Wrong (confused with other music - make counter-claim with proof of authorship), Fraudulent (competitor/hater - contest with complete documentation). To contest (Counter-Claim): Open ticket with subject 'Counter-Claim'. Provide proof of original authorship: Project file (Ableton, FL Studio, Logic, Reaper), Stems (separate file of each instrument), Photos/video of creation process, Contract with producers. Explain why the takedown is incorrect. VibeDistro forwards to platform. Deadline: Initial response up to 7 days, complete resolution 14-30 days.
Royalty Blocking
Why your royalties are withheld: Work divergence (correct metadata - composers, splits), Active copyright claim (dispute or obtain license), Artificial streaming (cease activity, wait for cleanup), Duplicate content (remove duplicate), Incomplete banking data (complete payment information). Deadline for unblocking: After resolution, royalties released in next cycle (45-90 days). If never resolved: royalties may be refunded to platform.

Most Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take for my music to appear on platforms?

Generally 48 hours after VibeDistro approval. Other platforms may take up to 15 days.

Can I edit metadata after submitting?

Yes, but with limitations. Up to 30 days before publishing, you can edit freely. After publication, minor edits (bio, links) can be made.

My royalties appear very low. Why?

Common causes: Incorrect splits (don't add up to 100%), royalties withheld by copyright claim, blocked sample, few real streams, high VibeDistro rate. Solution: Review metadata and open ticket if it persists.

Can I use Glow Manager without distributing?

Yes! It's an independent app for schedule, event and team management.

What is VibeDistro's commission?

Varies by plan: Basic: 15%, Pro: 20% - 45%. Check your panel for exact details.

How do I activate Spotify Discovery Mode?

It's already activated automatically for VibeDistro clients. No additional cost.

How long to receive royalties after consumption?

45 to 90 days after the stream/listen occurs on platforms. After, values become available monthly according to DSP.

Can I have multiple VibeDistro accounts?

Yes, for different artists/labels. But not to duplicate the same track (would violate rights).

My Spotify profile appears empty — why?

Possible causes: You haven't claimed the profile yet, profile was created automatically, wait for synchronization (up to 48h), metadata is incorrect, track is still in publication process. Solution: Claim profile at artists.spotify.com.
